Hey! I’m Jimmy, an experienced CPA driven to build a business designed to simplify tax preparation and inspire individuals to think differently about their personal finance.

After 15 years in public accounting delivering tax services to a wide range of business and individual clients, I took a leap of faith and left my career job (spent working at two great organizations - half as an employee at a top 50 CPA firm; the other half as co-owner at a small/mid-sized CPA firm) to …. well, to be honest, I did not know what I was going to do next ….

….After taking some time to reflect on my passions and skills and decompress from 15 years of tax seasons (five as a co-owner and director of the firm’s tax department), it became clear to me that the place on the map where taxes, personal finance, and entrepreneurship intersect was the optimal spot for me to help others using the skills and passions I had developed over the years. So, I decided to launch FIRE CPA for Hire to build a business from that would help others manage tax filing/planning and gain clarity on their personal financial trajectory.

You may be wondering, ‘why leave a great organization in the middle of your career without a plan?’ The answer lies (mostly) in the name of the firm. The ‘FIRE’ in FIRE CPA for Hire stands for Financially Independent, Retired Early, which is a recent financial movement of sorts. The FIRE movement has helped many, myself included, realize we are not required to wait until traditional retirement age to retire or at least rewire our careers and lifestyles. Personally, I like to think of the ‘RE’ as ReWired Early. Over the past decade, I developed a passion for entrepreneurship and the concepts of FIRE and decided it was time to take action by ‘rewiring’ my own career and lifestyle. This is why I left a great organization without a concrete plan. It was a leap of faith and I believed I enjoy and find success in the process of rewiring my career and lifestyle. So far, so good!

Now I am putting my passion and experience to good use by building something from scratch - a remote tax business built to help others achieve their own, unique personal finance and lifestyle goals.

Personally, I enjoy fitness (I’ve run six half marathons (so far) and one (and likely only) full marathon), love cheering on my favorite local sports teams (the Indiana Hoosiers, Indiana Pacers, and Indianapolis Colts), and enjoy attempting to write and record music at home on my guitar at home. I volunteer at my church as a member of the host team. And as you can tell from the rest of my bio, I am passionate about financial independence and the freedom it can offer!
